Best Farm Management Software in 2026, by Farm Type

On this page

The best farm management software depends on the size and shape of your farm. Large commercial operations, such as big cattle and sheep stations, commercial grain growers and beef ranches with registry and compliance work, are the farms AgriWebb, Bushel Farm (formerly FarmLogs) and CattleMax are built around. Most farms are not that. If you are an individual farmer or run a small or medium operation with a few kinds of animals, a small team and money to watch, Livestock Manager is made for you: a phone-first app with a free plan and 15 languages, with eggs, feed, medicine and sales in one place. It needs an internet connection. If crops drive your income, look at Farmbrite.

We compared five tools using each vendor's own website, checked on 2026-09-30. Prices change, so treat every figure as "at the time of writing."

What to Look For in Farm Software

  1. Signal in the field. Ask what happens when the phone loses signal. Some apps keep records on the device and sync later. Others need a connection to save a record.
  2. Your species and crops. Pick a tool that handles what you raise without workarounds.
  3. Pasture tools. If you rotate paddocks, you need mapping and stocking rates, not just a place name.
  4. Fast data entry. Typing with gloves on is slow. Look for voice entry and receipt scanning.
  5. Money in the same place. Expenses, sales and invoices should sit beside the animals and crops they belong to. Our farm record keeping guide lists the records worth keeping.
  6. Language and price. Check the languages your crew speaks, and read the pricing page for animal limits.

Livestock Manager: Best for Small and Medium Livestock and Poultry Farms

Website: livestockfarm.co

Livestock Manager is made for individual farmers and small and medium operations. It runs on iOS, Android and the web, in 15 languages, and you can start on the free plan without a sales call or a contract. It began as a livestock record keeper and is strongest there. It suits smallholders, poultry and egg producers, and mixed farms that want animals, feed, medicine and money in one place, without the setup a large commercial system asks for. Our lesson on setting up your farm account covers the first steps.

What it does:

  • Multi-species records. Batches for chickens, cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, rabbits, ducks, turkeys, fish and more, with daily records for eggs, milk, weight, water and deaths.
  • Health and supplies. Health records, a medicine store with stock, expiry and withdrawal periods, and a feed store with stock and days left.
  • Speak or type. Say "We collected 5 trays of eggs today" or type it, and the app turns it into a record. Our lesson on recording by voice or text shows the screens.
  • Receipt scanning. Snap a receipt and the app fills in the amount, date and category.
  • Money. Income and expenses, sales, invoices and customers, plus an online farm shop. Our lesson on tracking income and expenses shows how.
  • Breeding, tasks and reports. Breeding records with due dates, tasks and reminders, automatic recurring records, and reports as PDF or CSV.
  • Teams. Invite people with roles.
  • Crops. You can switch on crop tracking and record plantings with planting dates, expected harvest and harvest. It is lighter than a dedicated crop planner.

Pricing: A free plan exists. Paid plans are Growth, Scale and Enterprise. See the pricing page on the site for current figures.

Limits:

  • It needs an internet connection and has no offline mode.
  • Locations are named areas with a size. There is no paddock map or rotation planner, so graziers with many paddocks should look at AgriWebb.
  • It has no satellite imagery and no field-level crop analytics.

Farmbrite: Best for Crop-Led and Diversified Farms

Website: farmbrite.com

Farmbrite sells separate plan families for livestock only, crops only, and both. Its site lists cattle, goats, sheep, poultry, pigs, horses, bees and more, plus crop planning for market gardens, orchards, flowers and indoor growers.

  • Pricing: Livestock plans run from $29 to $79 per month, crop plans from $29 to $59, and Complete plans (livestock and crops) from $59 to $109. Yearly billing is cheaper. There is a 14-day free trial with no credit card.
  • Included on all plans: custom farm mapping, task management, financial tracking, iOS and Android apps, and offline capability.
  • Fit: Good when you sell produce and animal products and want one system for both. Animal caps apply per plan, from 300 to 5,000+.

AgriWebb: Best for Large Commercial Grazing Operations

Website: agriwebb.com

AgriWebb prices by the number of cattle and sheep you manage. Its home page promotes paddock management with drag-and-drop mob movements.

  • Plans: Essentials (map and core records), Compliance (audit tools, treatment and weight records, feed, cropping records) and Performance (weight projections, grazing management, breeding reports, financial reporting, stocking rate analysis). Some planning add-ons cost extra.
  • Where it works: Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the US and South Africa.
  • Offline: The site says the app runs in the paddock without a connection and syncs when it has internet.
  • Fit: Best for large commercial operations where paddock rotation, compliance and stocking rates drive the day. Pricing follows animal count, so cost grows with the herd. A smaller mixed flock or herd may need less depth than this offers.

CattleMax: Best for Beef-Only Herds With Registry Needs

Website: cattlemax.com

CattleMax has served ranchers since 1999 and focuses on cattle.

  • Plans: Commercial is $30 per month billed yearly. Registered is $41 per month billed yearly and adds breed association interfaces, pedigrees, embryo management and EPD/EBV tracking. Both cover up to 250 active animals.
  • Included: cattle records, pasture maps, equipment maintenance, financial tracking, a task calendar, unlimited users and a 21-day free trial.
  • Fit: A straightforward choice if you run only beef cattle and need registry and breed association tools. If you also keep other animals, you would need a second tool.

See our CattleMax alternatives guide for other cattle options.

Bushel Farm (FarmLogs): Best for Commercial Grain and Row Crops

Website: bushelpowered.com

FarmLogs is now Bushel Farm, run by Bushel in Fargo, North Dakota. It covers field activities such as fertilizing and seeding, grain contracts imported from 3,500+ grain and ag retail facilities, per-field rainfall alerts, field-level profitability, and price alerts. It syncs with John Deere Operations Center and Climate FieldView.

The page lists subscription tiers without prices and offers a free 30-day trial. It does not mention livestock, so animal farms should look elsewhere.

How to Choose by Farm Type

  • Individual farmer, or a small or medium operation with poultry, goats, pigs, rabbits, cattle or several species together: Livestock Manager. You can start free on your phone, keep animals, feed, health and money in one place, and grow into a paid plan later. Our beginner guides for poultry farming and goat farming show the records these farms need.
  • Crops drive your income, market garden style: Farmbrite's Complete plans cover livestock and crops. Livestock Manager can work if crops are a small side of a livestock farm.
  • Large commercial cattle or sheep station with many paddocks: AgriWebb.
  • Beef cattle only, with registry or breed association needs: CattleMax.
  • Commercial grain and row crops: Bushel Farm.
  • Weak signal on the farm: Choose an app with offline support, such as Farmbrite or AgriWebb. If you use Livestock Manager (which needs an internet connection), note records on paper and enter them when you are back online.
  • Team speaks another language: Livestock Manager offers 15 languages. Ask the other vendors, because their pages did not state language support.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best farm management software?

It depends on the size and type of your farm. Individual farmers and small and medium livestock, poultry and mixed farms that want a phone-first app with a free plan can start with Livestock Manager. Large commercial cattle and sheep operations look at AgriWebb, beef-only herds with registry needs at CattleMax, commercial grain growers at Bushel Farm, and crop-led farms at Farmbrite.

Is there free farm management software?

Livestock Manager has a free plan. Farmbrite, CattleMax and Bushel Farm offer free trials (14, 21 and 30 days at the time of writing) rather than a free plan, and AgriWebb prices by animal count. Check each vendor's pricing page before you commit.

Does farm management software work with no signal?

It depends on the tool. Farmbrite and AgriWebb both state on their sites that their apps work offline. Livestock Manager needs an internet connection and has no offline mode, so write records down when you have no signal and enter them later.

Can one app track livestock and crops?

Yes, several can. Farmbrite sells a Complete plan for livestock plus crops, AgriWebb's Compliance plan includes cropping records, and Livestock Manager can track crops as batches alongside animals. Bushel Farm focuses on crops and CattleMax on cattle.

Which farm software supports several languages?

Livestock Manager is available in 15 languages. The other four vendors did not state their language support on the pages we checked, so ask them if your team does not use English.
